MEET ME

I have asked myself the question about who I am so many times in my life that I lost the count.

Having always worked in a corporate environment I have had several roles and definitions appended to my name in the past and in the present, but none of them is the full picture.

The only honest answer that I can give to myself and to whoever wants to listen is that "I am a curious human being, an avid learner and a strong supporter of other curious people and learners".

So here is what makes me me, what I stand for, what I'm passionate about.

Anchor Skills
Who am I?

When I came across the term in 2018 I embraced the concept of the growth mindset and became a strong advocate. With inevitable and very human highs and lows, I apply it to myself and to my team.

I am a quick and avid learner and I can't refrain by being intrigued by new ideas.

I have a corporate job where I’m always keen to take additional responsibilities and I have been constantly challenging myself to move to different roles and to different industries.

My comfort zone is never big enough.

This attitude reflects in my leadership style. I am a leader always willing to support people keen to learn and to share opportunities for personal and professional development.

Anchor Values

I mentor and coach. Colleagues, friends and even family members. I haven't tried with random people on the street though.

Asking questions has always come more easily to me than giving answers and I strongly believe that the best answer to the most complex problems comes from asking probing and challenging questions.

Hands in hands with the power of asking comes the power of active listening. I strongly embrace this concept and I practice, practice and practice.

Diversity &
Inclusion

I actively support diversity and inclusion both in my substantive role and through voluntary works. This spans from championing a mix of face to face and remote interactions to foster people participation and engagement to running personal development sessions for less represented groups to being a STEM ambassador in schools.

I strongly value making a difference in people's life with my work.

I have successfully been working flexibly for the last 3 years and I am a huge supporter of giving people the opportunity and the tools they need to work in the way that best suits their natural inclination.

I constantly challenge myself to find new and more productive ways to make work work for me and for my team. This includes researching and trying new technologies, apps etc as well as role model smart working practices and encourage people to use them. Quite frequently this goes hands in hands with working for inclusion.

Introvert
Leaders

I am a team leader and I am an introvert.

You can be an introvert and be a leader.

At the end of the day growth mindset is about (I am oversimplifying, I know) believing that "your basic qualities are things you can cultivate through efforts, your strategies and the help from others. [...] everyone can change and grow through application and experience" (C. Dweck - Mindset).

I am a different kind of leader from the stereotypical extrovert norm. I focus more on being inclusive and I am (sometimes) less directive. I ask more questions than I give straight answers. I take time to research and I don't jump to conclusions.

My introversion also makes me more tuned to see the sign of introversion in my team and colleagues and to put strategies in place to ensure they are and they feel included.
